Cliff Henricksen is a mechanical engineer, audio technologist, musician, and inventor. He was born in Long Island (New York), the son of Norwegian immigrants. It was his father’s facility with all things mechanical, as well as love of music and the technology behind that music, which influenced Cliff’s technical and artistic direction in life.
Cliff graduated with a BSME from Union College (Schenectady, New York), and earned his MSME from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), (Cambridge, Massachusetts). By the time he was at MIT, he regularly played with a Boston-based cover band. Today, he and his family make their home in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Cliff began his career in professional audio, in 1974, by starting a research group at Altec Lansing (Anaheim, California). He’s held key senior technical positions at Altec Lansing, Community Professional Systems (Chester, Pennsylvania), Electro-Voice (Buchanan, Michigan), U.S. Sound (Ship, Bottom, New Jersey), and Bose Corporation (Framingham, Massachusetts).
As a lifelong musician, and as an MIT-educated scientist and engineer, Cliff has made it his life’s work to bring innovation
to the technology of professional audio. After his long career, he started Cliff Innovations (Framingham, Massachusetts), where he is developing new electro-acoustic technologies. He remains active as a performing musician and composer. He holds numerous patents and is a published author in technical publications, periodicals, and of his book, The Gasoline Chronicles (first and second editions).
