Dr. Deneen Plessala brings her extensive research and clinical experience to the Innovative Medicine Partners team. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University and her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She continued her medical training at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama where she completed her pediatric internship and residency in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. After practicing in the pediatric clinics at the Jefferson County Health Department and the Mobile Health Department, she joined Children’s Medical Group in Mobile, Alabama. She is a member of numerous medical societies and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
As Chief Medical Officer of Innovative Medicine Partners, Dr. Plessala is responsible for the comprehensive research necessary to bring an idea for an innovative medical device from concept to fruition. She spends a great deal of time analyzing all available peer reviewed literature to gain a thorough understanding of the problem being investigated, addressing clinical aspects as well as ensuring the patentability and marketability of a particular device. Collaborating with inventors, intellectual property attorneys, and engineers, Dr. Plessala plays a crucial role in the patent application process, design and production of prototypes, and development and analysis of clinical trials. She also works closely with Innovative Medicine Partners’ regulatory department to compile the extensive material required for FDA submission and clearance.
Dr. Plessala is an inventor and co-patent holder of a novel medical device that deals with day-to-day patient care.
